Chief Layrisson personally apprehends fugitive

TWO WANTED FUGITIVES CAPTURED BY PONCHATOULA POLICE – ONE BY POLICE CHIEF BRY LAYRISSON

August 3, 2017, Chief Layrisson conducted a traffic stop which led to the arrest of Jeremy Tillman, 28, who fled from the Ponchatoula Police Department (PPD) yesterday.

Tillman was wanted by PPD and Louisiana Probation and Parole on several felony charges. He was transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Correctional Center for charges including LRS 14:68 – Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle; LRS 14:35 – Simple Battery; LRS 14:108B(1)(a) – Resisting an Officer; and Violation of Probation for Narcotics. Tillman’s girlfriend, Candace Kinchen, 26, was the driver of the vehicle. Kinchen was arrested for aiding Tillman evade law enforcement and charged with LRS 14:25 – Accessory After the Fact – Aiding and Abetting a Fugitive.

Later in the day, shortly after 3:00 PM, Detectives received information that Renard Fredericks, 19, was the passenger in a vehicle traveling through Ponchatoula. Fredericks was wanted by the PPD for LRS 14:24/27/30.1 – Principle to Attempted Second Degree Murder. Detectives, Officers and Chief Layrisson located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The violent offender was arrested without incident and also transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Correctional Center for the aforementioned charge.

“As the Chief of Police, I do not expect anything of my Officers that I am not willing to do myself,” said Chief Bry Layrisson. “As long as I am Chief, I will do my part to keep Ponchatoula safe, even when it means joining my Officers on the front lines.”
