The Kiwanis Club of Ponchatoula was organized in February 1948 to serve the local community and especially to benefit local children. In the more than sixty years that have passed since that time this group of dedicated citizens have completed countless projects which have enhanced the Ponchatoula community.
To raise funds for their community projects, the club began issuing posters to commemorate the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival held each spring. The festival, which began on a small scale in 1972, now attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to this small Louisiana town.
The Strawberry Festival Posters, first issued by the Kiwanis Club in 1977, are the only official posters associated with the festival. Each poster is signed by the artist, numbered, and carries the official seal of the Kiwanis Club of Ponchatoula. About 1992, the Kiwanis Club began issuing a smaller size of their annual festival posters in addition to the regular sized posters. The two different sizes have been popular with our customers.
Many of the limited edition Strawberry Festival Posters issued by the Kiwanis Club were quickly purchased by anxious customers who waited in long lines to obtain these collector's items. Many editions of the posters were quickly sold out and are now available only from art galleries and individual collectors at premium prices.
The Kiwanis Club of Ponchatoula is now making its remaining supply of these limited edition official posters available to the public via the internet. All proceeds from the sale of Strawberry Festival posters and other souvenir items go directly to projects to help the youth of our community.
